Makayla Hope Borjas

Our beautiful baby girl was finally born on 5/5/2011 @ 2:35 am!  She weighed 6 lbs 3 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long.

Birth Story:

On Wednesday, 5/4/2011, I started having contractions every few hours that were hurting a bit more than usual.  Nick and I went to dinner at Blackberry Corners and met his parents there.  We ordered some pizzas and all of a sudden I started having some very strong contractions about 10 minutes apart.  This happened about 3 or 4 times and I knew this was it!  By the time we made it to the car my water broke!  I was kind of freaking out since I have never experienced my water breaking before.  There is nothing like feeling like you are peeing your pants and you can't stop! LOL

So, we headed home (we only live about 5 minutes away).  We grabbed the bags for the hospital which I had all set and ready to go.  I called the doctor and we headed to St. V's.  We parked in the parking garage and headed up to Labor and Delivery.  That was the most embarrassing walk ever since my pants were soaked and continuing to get worse!

We got all checked into our room and started the process!  Little Makayla was a bit more stubborn than her brother!  Elijah only took pushing for 15 minutes to make his arrival, but this little girl decided to make me really work for it!  I pushed for an hour with a some yelling and crying... then she finally came out with this little tiny cry.  She was so beautiful!  Right when she came out she tried to suck on my OB's finger.  :)  Nick cut the cord and they put her on my belly.  It was so emotional and amazing all at the same time!

It is now 5 days later and we are completely in love with our little girl!  She already has her daddy completely wrapped around her little finger.  I love seeing how much he loves her already and the two of them interacting.  She is going to be daddy's girl!!  Nick was suppose to go back to work yesterday.  He got up and got all ready and headed out as I was about to cry.  He made it to Curtice and then decided he missed us too much!  He called his boss and turned around and came home!  Love him!  Unfortunately today, he really had to go.  We miss him so much!  There is nothing better than the time we have just the 3 of us!  I love my little family!

I'm not sure who Makayla looks like yet.  She definitely has some of the same features as Eli.  They have the same nose and mouth.  My beautiful babies!  I wish I could stay at home with her forever!  I have to go back to work in 3 months, so I plan on enjoying every moment!

I'm sure I will be picture crazy, so I will post some more soon.  :)

38 Weeks 4 Days Update

I'm still waiting patiently for baby girl to arrive.... well not so patient anymore LOL.  I am soooo uncomfortable and sleeping is nearly impossible!  I had to switch my blood thinners from Lovenox to Heparin at 36 weeks which has been a BIG adjustment!  They are so much more painful and I have to fill the syringes myself.  They also make me bleed everytime, so I have quite a stock of bandaides since I have to take them twice a day instead of my usual once.  They are getting easier though with the more practice I get, but I cannot wait to switch back to Lovenox after delivery!

At my doctor's appointment this week my doctor said I have gone from 1 cm to 2 cm in a week and my cervix is softening.  I am definitely making progress.  She stripped my membranes, so that may get things going!  I have been having lots of contractions off and on, but nothing consistant (having one right now actually...).  Baby is being very stubborn in there!  I go to MFM on Thursday and they may decide to admit me for an induction if I haven't gone into labor by then.  If not, I will definitely be induced on Saturday since the doctor's do not want me to go past 39 weeks.  I'm a little nervous about an induction, so kind of hoping baby decides to come sometime today or tonight!  I can't wait to meet this little girl!  I think I may have lost my mucus plug today (digusting I know.. sorry!).  So, hopefully that means she will be here very soon!

We just got new carpet in our living room today, so my house is a mess since we had to move out all of the furniture from that room!  So, I hope once Nick gets home from work we can get the house back in order before baby arrives!  I want to come home to a nice clean house!

Thankfully my wonderful boss told me to work from home all week, so that has been wonderful!!  It was killing me to make the 35 min drive (which I know isn't that bad) and then park and walk what seems like a mile to my office.  It's not really that long, but when I have to waddle the whole way there it feels like torture!  Believe me I have tried parking closer to the hospital when the weather was cold and icy because I was afraid of slipping, but security gave me a ticket!  I couldn't believe it!  LOL.  So, now I'm back to the very back of the parking lot.  It is so much more comfortable to work on my laptop on my couch than at an uncomfortable desk all day!  I am really going to enjoy having 12 weeks off with my baby girl!!

Eli's 1st Birthday

Thursday was Elijah's 1st birthday.  I cannot believe it has already been a year since we said goodbye to our little angel.  I only miss him more with each day that passes, which I didn't think was possible.  We decided to have a little memorial party for Eli.  First we started out at the cemetery and released balloons.  It was a beautiful sunny day.  So perfect!  Definitely gave me a sense of calm and tranquility.

I tried to get a picture of the balloons floating away, but it was windy and I didn't snap the picture in time...

Our family joined us for the balloon release and than we had a little cookout afterwards at our house.  It turned into a very nice little celebration for our family.

I found this poem online that I thought was beautiful.  It kind of describes how I'm feeling one year later.

Feelings
I feel like I've just existed
And now it's been a year
I don't know how I've lived and breathed
Without you being here.
I know you lived your lifetime
As short as that seems to me,
But the pain in my heart is still so great,
Yet I know your spirit is free.
At times I think I hear you
The thoughts come to my mind.
I struggle for the sound of your voice,
But your voice I cannot find.
Yet you come to me in many ways
So I know you did not die,
You want to tell me that you're close,
And to please stop asking Why.
Our lives on earth seem all too brief,
Or brief as it seems to me.
But where you are is forever,
GOD calls that Eternity !

So, now we have the joy of the arrival of our baby girl to look forward to.  I know that Eli is looking down and protecting his little sister.  The pain of missing him will always be there and the arrival of a new baby does not replace our love for him.  He will always be a part of our family and I can't wait to share all of our memories of him with his baby sister.  We love and miss you so much Baby Eli! <3

I will be 37 weeks tomorrow already!!  Once she is here I plan to turn this into our family blog.  Our little family of four!  Stay tuned :)

33 Weeks 5 Days Appointment

Had another good NST/BPP and Doppler today.  I can't believe she is going to be here so soon!!  Starting to get super anxious and nervous!!  I have been monitoring her movement very close lately.  The only problem is that I sometimes scare myself because I think I get so used to her little movements that I sometimes don't realize she is moving when I am doing something else.  So, all of a sudden I am questioning whether or not I have felt her move in a while.  Then as soon as I stop and think about it, it's like she reads my mind and starts wiggling.  :)  I never felt this much movement with Eli since he didn't have any fluid to really move around much, so sometimes I just like to sit down, relax and enjoy the movements!  It's such a miracle!

This is such an emotional journey.  Eli's birthday is coming up soon on April 21st.  This pregnancy brings back so many memories of when I was pregnant with Eli and it brings me such hope for the future with our little girl as well.  I will always wish that Eli was here and everyday I think about how old he would be now and the things he would be doing.  I think of these things every time I see a little boy no matter how old he is.  We will never get to experience those things with Eli and it breaks my heart all over again everyday.  We will never get to see his first smile or hear his first words.  We will never get to teach him to ride a bike or watch him in a wrestling match.  I can't wait until our little girl is here so we can share all of our memories of her big brother with her.  She will definitely know she had a beautiful brother who will always be a part of our family and in our hearts.  Awaiting her arrival has been so scary and exciting at the same time.  It's so important to me to keep Eli's memory alive in our family.  He was a blessing even though we only had a short amount of time with him.

I will never understand why things happen the way they do.  It definitely seems like there are way too many bad things that happen for all of this to be a part of God's plan.  I know many people will disagree with what I am about to say, but different experiences in life definitely make you feel a certain way.  So, if you have not been through the exact same thing it is hard to really judge someone for the way they feel.  I have been having a really hard time with that over the last year.  I get really tired of hearing that everything that has happened has been a part of God's plan because I really don't think that God would put a plan in place to cause people so much pain.  If this is all a part of God's plan... his plan really stinks!  I sometimes believe that things just happen...  and we have God to help us through all of the heartache along the way.  I know He is there watching over us and I think his heart is breaking just as much as ours over the things that happen.  My thoughts may not make much sense, but I'm still on the journey of understanding my feelings and the true meaning of everything.  This is a journey that I have to take myself and figure out on my own.  And I have an amazing husband that has helped me through it all along the way.  He can always make me laugh.  :) One of the reasons I fell in love with him 12 years ago.  I know he is struggling with the grief as much as I am. I don't think it ever goes away.  I am so thankful that we have had each other to get through the hard times over the past 3 1/2 years.  I am so lucky to have him in my life!  And now we are being blessed with a beautiful little girl!  She is helping to complete our family here on earth.  So, now we will have an angel in Heaven waiting for us and watching over us and we will also have our daughter here.  In a way, it is kind of a beautiful thing to know you have an angel watching over you and sometimes at just the right moment I can feel it.

Sorry for the heavy topic this week!  But sometimes it is such a relief to get those feelings out... I think it's all part of the process..

Here are some 3D pictures of our little cutie pie.  Enjoy :)

I hope everyone has a fantastic week.  I should have some more pictures next week!  :)
